Privacy
On social networking sites people are becoming more and more open with their personal information. People end up giving intimate details about their lives in post on the Internet. These sites seem to be an outlet for some people. It's like somebody own personal diary. They write whatever they want and it is open to majority of the public. Even if your profile is set to private, once something is posted it is on the Internet forever. When on these sites people don't filter what they say about their own private life. Whenever somebody is applying for a job, the employer can always check these sites to see who exactly they are hiring. Even though it is said that peoples profiles are private, sometimes people can't control it or it does not work as well as people had hoped.

I feel that a person needs to be responsible for what they post on the internet. We cannot blame social networking sites. They are only giving use what we ask for. Facebook is constantly making it easier for people to stalk their friends, because everyone likes to know what others are doing. I won't lie, sometimes I can spend a while just checking out a friend's pictures.
ReplyDeleteYeah, privacy is dying everyday through social networking, but they are not all the blame. If you want something to be kept private and out of your life, don't post it, and put it into a journal or something, but the internet is for life. Recently I read that bosses/companies are being sued by facebook, for the applicant/employee to provide their URL to facebook. Job and personal life are separate walls that are not meant to be broken.
